[Oct 15 2013, 4:06 PM] MozTeach: Hello This is Chris, using our MozTeach handle
[Oct 15 2013, 4:08 PM] MozTeach: are you able see/hear the video?
[Oct 15 2013, 4:08 PM] chadsansing: Yes 🙂
[Oct 15 2013, 4:08 PM] MozTeach: cool
[Oct 15 2013, 4:10 PM] edinnovator: Love this video and haven’t seen it before! Do you have a link @MozTeach?
[Oct 15 2013, 4:10 PM] MozTeach: yes will share
[Oct 15 2013, 4:10 PM] edinnovator: great, thanks!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:12 PM] edinnovator: I love that reminder from Laura: “The web was built to be interoperable and knowable and to belong to all of us”
[Oct 15 2013, 4:12 PM] MozTeach: slides: http://zythepsary.com/mozilla/presentations/educator-innovator/#/step-1

[Oct 15 2013, 4:23 PM] chadsansing: Class is starting up – sorry to run; looking forward to hearing about the expansion of the Webmaker toolset 🙂
[Oct 15 2013, 4:24 PM] MozTeach: bye Chad
[Oct 15 2013, 4:24 PM] edinnovator: I love the idea that tools are the way to learn, the platform and the dissemination. And this sentence from Chris: “Practitioners become makers in adding to that resource set” So powerful.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:24 PM] edinnovator: Bye Chad!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:26 PM] professorsv: Are there existing student friendly guides to using the tools in Mozilla?
[Oct 15 2013, 4:27 PM] MozTeach: hive nyc blog http://explorecreateshare.org/
[Oct 15 2013, 4:27 PM] edinnovator: @professorsv We at NWP have created a few teaching kits meant for youth
[Oct 15 2013, 4:27 PM] edinnovator: I’ll gather a few links and post here.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:28 PM] professorsv: Thank you!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:28 PM] MozTeach: @professorsv we take a project based approach, so there are instructions embedded in the tools for instruction
[Oct 15 2013, 4:28 PM] MozTeach: but yes
[Oct 15 2013, 4:28 PM] edinnovator: And, yes, like @mozteach says, our kits have tool instructions embedded in the content creation
[Oct 15 2013, 4:29 PM] MozTeach: X-Ray Goggles teaching kit (remixable!) https://mozteach.makes.org/thimble/xray-goggles-teaching-kit
[Oct 15 2013, 4:29 PM] edinnovator: Here’s the webmaker teaching kits site: https://webmaker.org/en-US/teach
[Oct 15 2013, 4:29 PM] edinnovator: @professorsv Here’s one called “Coding with the NY Times” https://nwp.makes.org/thimble/coding-with-the-new-york-times
[Oct 15 2013, 4:30 PM] MozTeach: Our thinking is that 1) a project that motivates to learn 2) embedded instructions and 3) Kits for educators to shape to their/students needs
[Oct 15 2013, 4:30 PM] professorsv: Thank you!! These are great resources to have!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:32 PM] MozTeach: also will have “live help” in webmaker soon that allow real-time mentoring AND working with the HOMAGO Geek-Outs for webmaking “knitting circles”
[Oct 15 2013, 4:33 PM] professorsv: Oh, so cool.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:34 PM] MozTeach: more on the Web Lit Standards here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Learning/WebLiteracyStandard
[Oct 15 2013, 4:35 PM] Christina: I’m late logging in but hello everyone!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:35 PM] MozTeach: hello

[Oct 15 2013, 4:36 PM] Christina: Oh, hi Jennifer! Nice to see you here.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:36 PM] MozTeach: WNYC Radio Rookies, you may have heard some of their work on Morning Edition and All Things Considered
[Oct 15 2013, 4:37 PM] MozTeach: They imported an existing radio segment they produced and then used Popcorn Maker to make a webby multimedia version
[Oct 15 2013, 4:38 PM] edinnovator: This popcorn piece by Radio Rookies is such a powerful example of multimedia development by youth for purposes of civic engagement.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:39 PM] Christina: Recently we did a story book remix where we used storybooks and rewrote/remade them …
[Oct 15 2013, 4:39 PM] Christina: .. and then, after that, we looked at webmaker.org and played with remwriting/remaking with Popcorn and Thimble.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:40 PM] Christina: It went really well as a set of activities with a group of educators. Took a couple hours but lots o’ fun!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:41 PM] edinnovator: I was lucky enough to attend Mozfest last year and it was one of the most creative and productive conferences I’ve ever attended. I loved the focus on making and learning in community.
[Oct 15 2013, 4:41 PM] jenwoollven: Great idea, Chris. When I did digital storytelling last year some of my students used popcorn

[Oct 15 2013, 4:51 PM] Christina: sure!
[Oct 15 2013, 4:52 PM] Christina: Why don’t I just share a few things from Digital is …
